Italy health communication focuses on aging and youth engagement

Health communication in Italy is evolving to address diverse demographics, ranging from the elderly to younger generations. At a recent event, stakeholders highlighted the importance of translating complex scientific data into accessible information to promote healthy aging and defend the National Health Service.

OK Salute, a scientific publication founded in 2005 with support from oncologist Umberto Veronesi, has spent two decades providing rigorous medical information to the public. Similarly, the GIMBE Foundation recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, emphasizing the universal value of the National Health Service.

Addressing the challenges of reaching younger populations, experts at the Health Journalism Forum in Naples discussed the necessity of using social media and digital creators to deliver credible prevention messages. Panelists noted that communication must move away from traditional top-down approaches toward more empathetic, horizontal, and non-judgmental digital languages to build trust among new generations.
