Italy healthcare experts to discuss system challenges and mental health reform

Various experts and civic groups in Italy are organizing discussions to address critical challenges within the national healthcare system and mental health services.

A meeting organized by the civic group Rinnovamento Popolare in Inveruno will examine the current state of public health. Key topics include difficulties in booking medical examinations, long waiting times, access to primary care physicians, and the strain on emergency rooms. Speakers include medical professionals, academics from Bocconi University, and regional health commission members, focusing on how resource allocation has shaped the system's evolution.

In Ferrara, a separate event titled ‘Legge 180: eredità, attualità, futuro’ will convene constitutionalists and psychiatrists to discuss the legacy and future of Italy's mental health reform. Nearly fifty years after its approval, the discussion will explore the protection of individual rights, the organization of local services, and modern forms of social exclusion. The event will also feature a theatrical adaptation exploring themes of normality and madness.
