Italy highlights rural agritourism and Big Bench installations

Italy offers diverse experiential tourism opportunities, ranging from authentic rural farm stays to unique landscape installations.

Agritourism destinations across the country, from the Alpine valleys to the Maremma and Sardinia, focus on a connection to nature and traditional rhythms. Notable locations include Ferdy Wild in Alta Val Brembana, a mountain farm founded by Ferdinando Quarteroni that emphasizes a circular vision of life. Other significant areas include the hills of Umbria and the historic estates of Sicily.

Additionally, the Big Bench Community Project has created a widespread tourist attraction through oversized benches designed to alter perception. Originating in Clavesana in the Langhe region by designer Chris Bangle, the project now includes hundreds of installations. These include high-altitude benches in Valle d’Aosta, such as the one at Col Pilaz, and scenic spots near Lake Iseo in Lombardy, all aimed at promoting local small towns and panoramic views.
