Italy holds national conference to standardize Family Center welfare services

The National Conference on Family, organized by the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, was held in Milan to discuss the evolution and role of Family Centers in Italy.

The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of best practices among regions to help the Ministry establish future national guidelines. This process seeks to create a common framework for the organization and functions of these centers, ensuring shared quality standards across the country while respecting local specificities.

During the event, the Puglia Region shared its experience in developing its welfare network. Meanwhile, the Meter Association highlighted the uneven distribution of these services across Italy. According to Meter, there were 654 registered Family Centers in Italy in 2025, but certain areas remain underserved; for instance, Sicily had only 7 centers. The association emphasized the need to strengthen public networks and digital literacy for minors to better support families and children.
