Italy hosts agricultural summits on agroecology and water scarcity

Italy is hosting several key events focused on agricultural resilience and ecological transition. In Castel del Giudice, the 9th ‘Festa della Mela’ will take place on October 10-11, 2026. The event features ‘Oltreterra’, a national initiative by Slow Food Italia and Legambiente, to discuss agroecology’s role in regenerating the Apennine mountains and supporting the economies of internal areas.

Simultaneously, the University of Calabria hosted the third Agriworld Expo on October 8-9, 2026, at the Arcavacata Campus. Under the theme ‘Terre Assetate’ (Thirsty Lands), the expo addressed increasing water scarcity and the urgent need to redesign irrigation systems and production models in response to climate change. The event brought together researchers, institutions, and businesses to bridge the gap between scientific research and the practical needs of rural enterprises.
