Italy hosts business forums for Uganda and Azerbaijan
Rome hosted two significant economic initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with Uganda and Azerbaijan.
The first edition of the Uganda-Italy Business and Investment Forum took place in Rome, co-organized by the Ugandan Embassy in Italy and UNIDO ITPO Italy. The event brought together over 100 participants from public and private sectors to explore business opportunities in Uganda. Key speakers included Ugandan Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. Discussions focused on capacity building, international partnerships, and unlocking EU market access for Ugandan exporters.
Separately, an initiative titled ‘Italy-Azerbaijan: Strengthening Economic and Industrial Cooperation’ was held in Rome to bolster industrial ties. Organized by Confindustria in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event featured Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov. The meeting focused on strategic sectors including energy, critical raw materials, mining, metallurgy, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and tourism. An agreement was signed between the Italian and Azerbaijani ministries to foster new economic and industrial collaboration ahead of a planned business forum in Baku.
