Italy hosts cultural and spiritual walking events

Various cultural and spiritual walking events are taking place in Italy, focusing on historical pilgrimage routes.

In Verona, approximately fifty participants took part in a nocturnal walk following the footsteps of Saint Francis. The journey, organized by Casa dei Cammini in collaboration with Verona Minor Hierusalem and the diocesan Pilgrimage Service, moved through several historic sites including San Zeno square and Castelvecchio bridge. The event was held in the context of the 2026 Franciscan Jubilee.

In Colle di Val d'Elsa, the national event dedicated to the Via Francigena, titled V.I.A. (Vivere, Incontrare, Assaporare), is scheduled from October 16 to 18. The program includes educational activities for students, a film festival selection, and a community trek. The initiative aims to integrate the pilgrimage route into the daily life of the city through a new network called ‘Colle accoglie i pellegrini’, which involves local businesses and hospitality structures.
