Italy hosts cultural events on translinguism in Livorno and podcast awards in Piacenza
On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., the Biblioteca dei Bottini dell’Oliosi in Livorno opened the first session of the "Translinguism in Philosophy and Narrative" series. Organized by the Associazione Arturo Fornaciarisi, the program highlights writers who achieved prominence writing in a language other than their mother tongue. The opening lecture featured Francesca Gorgoni, a Renaissance philosophy historian, examining the work of Mahmu Darwish, the renowned Palestinian poet who wrote in Hebrew. Local officials, including Culture Assessor Angela Rafanelli, emphasized Livorno’s historic multilingual identity.
Separately, the Italian Podcast Awards 2026 will be held on 23 September in Piacenza, coinciding with the Festival of Contemporary Thinking. The fifth edition, organized by Maura Gancitano, Andrea Colamedici and Fabio Ragazzo, will be judged by an editorial committee of journalists, podcasters and audio professionals. New this year is the Piacenza Podcast Academy, a training programme for creators. The ceremony will honor the best Italian podcasts of the year, including Indie Podcast of the Year and Academy Prize winners.
