Italy hosts cycling events to raise awareness against gender violence
Various cycling events organized to raise awareness against gender violence and promote women's autonomy are taking place in Italy.
In Chiavari, the second edition of the ‘Woman Bike Ride’ is scheduled for Sunday, September 20. The event aims to reflect on women's freedom of movement and the historical necessity of defending their presence in public spaces. Participants can travel via regional trains in Liguria, where bicycles are transported free of charge due to an agreement between Trenitalia and the Liguria Region.
In Avellino, the fourth edition of a bike ride organized by ASD AV Bike Woman saw hundreds of participants cycling from Piazza d'Armi to Borgo Ferrovia Station. Local officials, including representatives from the Avellino municipality and the Campania Region, attended the event to emphasize the importance of prevention through education and social awareness to combat gender-based violence and femicide.
