Italy hosts diabetes awareness and screening events

Various initiatives are being organized across Italy to mark World Diabetes Day, focusing on prevention, awareness, and access to care.

In San Giovanni Valdarno, the Amici del diabete association, in collaboration with the local municipality and Unicoop Firenze, has scheduled two events. On November 12, the community will host a book presentation titled “La strada che non avevo scelto” by Andrea Landi, which chronicles his life journey from a childhood diabetes diagnosis to becoming a physician. On November 14, free blood glucose screenings will be available to the public at a Coop supermarket.

In Bari, the Endocrinology department of the Policlinico di Bari and the Puglian section of the Italian Diabetes Society (SID) are organizing an event titled “Diabetes and access to care: if not now, when?”. Scheduled for November 8 at Piazza del Ferrarese, the initiative aims to promote early diagnosis and inform citizens about the importance of continuous care for chronic conditions. The event is supported by several local diabetes associations and medical professionals.
