Italy hosts free dermatological consultations for hidradenitis suppurativa
The Italian Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (SIDeMaST) has launched a national campaign titled “Scritto sulla Pelle” to raise awareness for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The initiative offers free dermatological consultations to facilitate early diagnosis and improve patient quality of life.
In Bari, consultations will be held on November 2 at the Policlinico di Bari’s Dermatology Clinic, directed by Professor Caterina Foti. In Ferrara, sessions are scheduled for November 3 at the AOU di Ferrara (Ospedale di Cona), directed by Professor Alessandro Borghi.
Experts note that HS is often misdiagnosed or overlooked, despite affecting approximately one in 100 people globally. Early detection is critical to managing the painful and recurring lesions associated with the condition. Citizens can book appointments via a toll-free number, 800 893 512, available Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00, until spots are exhausted.
