Italy hosts health initiatives for World Heart and Stroke Days
In observance of international health awareness days, various initiatives were held across Italy focusing on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.
In the Piedmont region, thirteen Community Houses (Case della Comunità) held open days to promote cardiovascular prevention. In Trecate, the local Community House hosted sessions for blood pressure monitoring, health education, and screenings. The initiative, supported by the Lorenzo Greco Heart and Resuscitation Association and the Piedmont Regional Health Department, aimed to introduce citizens to local healthcare professionals and new territorial assistance structures.
In Rome, UniCamillus hosted the “Stroke 2026” seminar to mark World Stroke Day. The conference addressed the critical importance of early diagnosis and emergency response networks. With approximately 100,000 new stroke cases reported annually in Italy, the event highlighted the “Stroke Action Plan for Italy,” which aims to ensure at least 90% of affected individuals receive treatment in specialized Stroke Units by 2030. Currently, only 50-70% of patients access such specialized care.
