Italy hosts initiatives focused on gender equality and workforce evolution
Two major initiatives in Italy have recently focused on gender equality, technological advancement, and the evolving landscape of the workforce.
In Bologna, the third edition of the STEM Women Congress Italia was held at the Tecnopolo DAMA. The event aimed to bridge the gender gap in science and technology by engaging over 250 high school students. The congress featured discussions on sustainable architecture, inclusive design, and personalized medicine, specifically addressing the need to move beyond male-centric models in scientific research to ensure tailored clinical treatments.
In Bari, the Women Lead HUMAN initiative brought together over 150 participants and 70 companies at the Fiera del Levante. The event addressed the rapid transformation of the job market, noting projections that 170 million new roles could be created by 2030 while 92 million disappear. Discussions centered on artificial intelligence, skill evolution, and workplace inclusion. Working groups proposed concrete measures to support work-life balance, such as increased flexibility and smart working, particularly for women returning from maternity leave and the ‘sandwich generation’ caring for both children and elderly relatives.
