Italy hosts initiatives promoting female empowerment

Various initiatives in Italy are focusing on female empowerment through culture and economics. In Taranto, the “Donne con la macchina da presa” film series will run from October 20 to 23. The free event features films by female directors, including Paola Cortellesi’s “C'è ancora domani”, Sarah Gavron’s “Suffragette”, Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation”, and Chloé Zhao’s “Nomadland”. The screenings will be accompanied by academic discussions with professors from the University of Bari to explore the relationship between cinema and contemporary social transformations.

In Turin, the fourth edition of the Women Economic Forum Italia is scheduled for October 24 to 26, 2026. Hosted at OGR Torino and Palazzo Perrone, the international event aims to promote female leadership and empowerment. The forum will bring together institutions, businesses, and researchers to discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, finance, health, and sustainability. The 2026 edition will utilize a new “Agorà” format to encourage direct dialogue and experience sharing across different generations and sectors.
