Italy launches various initiatives to combat gender-based violence
Various regional initiatives in Italy are focusing on combating gender-based violence through research, sports, and art.
In Rimini, the “Gendered Impacts” project was presented to analyze how recent legislative measures affect women in real-world scenarios. The study, involving over 150 professionals and survivors, examines the practical application of protection measures and their impact on those escaping violence.
In Rome, the second edition of the “Corri Libera” 5km run is scheduled for November 15, 2026. Promoted by government ministers, the event aims to use sport to raise awareness about the collective responsibility to combat violence against women.
Additionally, in Livorno, the Centro Donna reported high participation in its “Donne che fotografano donne” photography contest for the 2026 Anti-Violence November. Organizers are working to ensure all submitted images are recovered following technical difficulties with file downloads.
