Italy hosts international aeromodelling and aviation festivals

Italy will host two significant aviation-related events in September 2026. In Lugo, the Villa San Martino airport will host international aeromodelling competitions from September 3 to 6. Organized by the Aero Club ‘Francesco Baracca’, the program includes the 16th Carpathia Cup and the 63rd Coppa d’Oro. Approximately 100 pilots from 20 nations are expected to compete in disciplines such as speed, acrobatics, team racing, and combat using sophisticated tethered aircraft.

In Terni, the Aviosuperficie Alvaro Leonardi will host the inaugural Festival del Cielo on September 5. Part of the Umbria Balloon Festival, the event aims to promote flight culture and local tourism. The program features hot air balloon activities, helicopter tours, tandem parachute jumps, and ultralight flights. The day will conclude with a ‘Night Glow Show’ featuring light choreographies from aircraft.
