Italy hosts lecture series on historical crises and global geopolitics

Two new lecture series in Italy will explore historical, geopolitical, and economic transformations.

The Fondazione Biblioteche Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze is launching a cycle of meetings titled ‘L’Italia della lunga crisi’ (The Italy of the Long Crisis). Curated by Sandro Rogari, the program examines the period from 1969 to 1993, focusing on the transition from the economic boom to a period of stagflation, terrorism, and the eventual dissolution of the party system. The series will use cinema, literature, and political analysis to trace the social and institutional shifts of those decades.

Simultaneously, the Forum Democratico and the Jean Monnet EU2LAC Chair of the University of Udine are hosting a series titled ‘I nuovi equilibri globali’ (The New Global Equilibria) in Casarsa della Delizia. This series aims to analyze contemporary global dynamics, including geopolitics, economic impacts on local industry, and cybersecurity threats. The program includes historical perspectives on the evolution of world orders since the end of the Cold War.
