Italy hosts major chess festivals in Trieste and Rimini

Italy is hosting two significant chess events in August 2026. The 20th edition of the “Città di Trieste” chess festival features a variety of competitions, including a Masters tournament for players with at least 1900 Elo points, a Trophy tournament, a beginners' tournament, and a blitz event.

Simultaneously, Rimini is hosting the 53rd Italian Absolute Chess Championship for the blind and visually impaired. Organized by the Associazione Scacchisti Ciechi e Ipovedenti Italiani (ASCID) with support from the Lions Club of Rimini, the event will take place at the Hotel Baia Resort in Viserbella. The championship includes participants from various Italian regions and features players who recently competed in the Six Nations Cup.
