Italy hosts medical conferences on aging and neurodegenerative diseases

Medical professionals and organizations in Sicily are hosting events focused on aging, mental health, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia.

In Agrigento, a multidisciplinary conference titled “Focus invecchiamento” will take place at the Hotel della Valle. Led by scientific directors Leonardo Giordano and Liana Gucciardino, the event will address clinical, nutritional, and rehabilitative approaches to conditions including Alzheimer's, dementia, depression in the elderly, and epilepsy. The program includes a scientific workshop for healthcare professionals and musical performances involving music therapy.

In Messina, the Alzheimer Fest will be held at Villa Dante. Organized by the Alzheimer Fest Association in collaboration with the Messina Policlinico and local social policy departments, the event marks the 19th stop of this national initiative. The festival aims to combine medical information with cognitive screenings, prevention advice for brain aging, and psychological support for caregivers. The initiative seeks to promote a culture of care and increase social awareness to reduce discrimination against patients.
