Alghero hosts Catalan tradition parade during Sant Miquel Festival

The Sant Miquel Festival is continuing its celebration of Catalan identity in Alghero throughout September. On Saturday, September 19, the city will host a significant presence of 'gegants' (giants), musicians, and participants of Catalan popular culture.

Four major groups from Capellades, Igualada, and Piera will participate, including Gegants de Capellades, Bisbalets i Cinta d’Igualada, Isabela d’Igualada, and Gegants de Piera. The event begins at 16:30 with the 'Plantada de Gegants', a traditional exhibition of the giants, followed by a 'Cercavila' parade through various streets including via Garibaldi and Piazza Sulis. The festivities will conclude in Piazza Sulis with group presentations, live music, dances, and a Grand Collective Final Ball.
