Italy hosts diverse community events for World Mental Health Day

Various Italian cities and organizations are launching diverse initiatives to observe World Mental Health Day. These events aim to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and foster community dialogue through art, sports, and medical services.

In Milan, the Caritas Ambrosiana is hosting an art contest and exhibition for young people to express psychological well-being through drawing. In Matera, a public walk titled ‘Conoscersi e Amarsi FolleMente’ will take place to bring mental health discussions into public squares. Other regional activities include a puzzle-themed event in Giulianova, a ‘Longevity Run’ in Gaeta focused on active aging, and a series of workshops in Mogliano using the metaphor of a pumpkin to discuss mental fragility.

Medical and scientific bodies are also involved. The SIPNEI held its national congress in Rome to discuss integrated care and the impact of social stressors on mental health. In Messina, the AOU G. Martino is offering free psychological and psychiatric consultations, specifically addressing internet addiction and eating disorders. In Modena, the ‘Màt’ week will feature over 80 events exploring the theme of ‘Connections’ in the digital age.
