Italy hosts unique opera performances in Tuscia and Rome
New musical initiatives are bringing opera to unconventional settings across Italy in October 2026. In the Tuscia region, the ‘Opera Bus’ event will feature a 1960s vintage bus serving as a mobile stage. From October 15 to 18, the production will travel through the hills and historic villages of Marta, Ischia di Castro, Valentano, and Farnese, performing original contemporary compositions designed to interact with the local landscapes and architecture.
In Rome, the ‘L’Opera Lungo il Tevere’ event will present selections from Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ on a moving boat along the Tiber River. Scheduled for October 17 and 18, the performance will navigate the stretch between Ponte Garibaldi and Ponte Sant’Angelo. Spectators can view the production from bridges and riverbanks, utilizing the city’s historic landmarks—such as Castel Sant’Angelo—as a natural backdrop. The production features Elena Lo Forte, Fabio Aureli, and Alessio Quaresima, under the musical direction of Sergio Oliva.
