Italy implements new 24/7 healthcare hotlines for non-emergency medical guidance

New healthcare hotline services are being implemented in Italy to improve access to non-emergency medical guidance. In the Bolzano Health District, a pilot project for the 116117 hotline will launch on September 15. This 24-hour service provides rapid orientation for health issues that do not constitute an emergency, involving facilities in Bolzano, Loew Cadonna, Chiusa, and Laive. Following the pilot phase, the service is intended to expand across the entire South Tyrol region.

Additionally, a continuous care service via the 051 3131 number has been active since August 25. This service operates 24/7 to address non-deferrable primary care needs. It is staffed by General Practitioners from the Single Role, who provide clinical assessments and direct patients to appropriate care, such as outpatient clinics or home care networks, when their primary doctor is unavailable. This initiative aims to strengthen territorial healthcare and ensure constant coverage.
