Italy implements new protocols to combat gender-based violence
In Campobasso, the local police headquarters (Questura) and the association Cambiamenti APS have signed a two-year protocol to combat gender-based violence through secondary prevention. The agreement focuses on rehabilitating perpetrators of domestic abuse and stalking. Under this initiative, individuals receiving a formal warning from the Questore can access free recovery programs managed by the Center for Men Who Commit Violence (CUAV), which utilizes psychologists and social workers to promote behavioral change.
In Potenza, the municipal government has launched the ‘SOSteniamo’ project, a territorial support network for women victims of violence. The initiative includes awareness campaigns, a dedicated helpline, and integrated services to assist women in achieving personal, social, and economic autonomy.
Additionally, a conference is scheduled in Naples to discuss the necessity of treating offenders of gender-based violence and sexual crimes. The event will bring together representatives from the judiciary, police, and academia to examine rehabilitation strategies in both prison and community settings.
