Italy implements new State Treasury Portal for schools
Italian educational institutions are required to join a new State Treasury Portal starting in November 2026, according to a circular from the State General Accounting Office. Developed by the Bank of Italy, the portal is designed to replace the existing “Estratti conto on-line” application, which will remain available until the March 2027 reporting period.
The new system aims to improve operational efficiency, access security, and information timeliness for consulting monthly account statements and transactions. Schools must complete a one-time self-registration process via the Bank of Italy website using SPID, CIE, or eIDAS. The procedure requires a digital signature from the school principal or a formally delegated representative.
In a separate initiative to promote financial literacy, the Ministry of Education and Merit has renewed a protocol with the General Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Auditors. This agreement focuses on teaching students and teachers about the responsible management of public resources and the importance of financial legality to combat waste and illicit behavior.
