Italy imposes 41 bis regime on Francavilla brothers

The Italian Minister of Justice has ordered the application of the 41 bis prison regime for brothers Antonello and Emiliano Francavilla. The duo is considered to be at the top of the Francavilla-Sinesi clan in Foggia.

The decision follows requests from the Bari District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the National Anti-Mafia Directorate. Investigations suggest that even while under house arrest, the brothers maintained criminal contacts; Antonello reportedly met with alleged affiliates, while Emiliano participated in telephone summits to resolve disputes and discuss illicit business.

The 41 bis regime imposes strict limitations on contact with the outside world, including restricting family visits to once a month and prohibiting telephone calls.
