Italy inflation: Rimini most expensive city for families
New data from Istat and the Unione Nazionale Consumatori reveals significant variations in the cost of living across Italian cities based on August inflation figures. Rimini is ranked as the most expensive city for an average family, with a 3.9% inflation rate resulting in an additional annual expenditure of 1,128 euros. Bolzano and Verona follow as the second and third most expensive cities, respectively.
In terms of highest inflation rates, Reggio Calabria recorded the largest increase at 4.6%, followed by Siracusa at 4.5%. Conversely, Benevento, Piacenza, and Cremona were identified as the most economical cities, with Benevento seeing an annual expenditure increase of only 547 euros.
In Cagliari, local data indicates a sharp rise in consumer prices. The city's annual inflation rate reached 3.4%, driven largely by energy costs. Specifically, housing, water, electricity, and gas saw a 9% increase compared to the previous year. Transport costs also rose by 6.7%, with significant spikes in maritime passenger transport and fuel for personal vehicles.
