Cornigliano steel plant workers end protest following supply agreement
Workers at the former Ilva steel plant in Cornigliano have ended their three-day protest and dismantled the picket line in front of the Prefecture. The mobilization was resolved following an agreement between extraordinary commissioners and trade unions to secure the supply of coils.
Under the new agreement, the facility will continue operations through the end of November using currently available coils. The plant will focus on galvanized, pickled, and tinplate lines. To ensure continuity after a planned technical pause in December, advanced negotiations are underway with external operators for third-party rolling agreements. The plan includes monthly supplies of 35,000 tons of coils: 25,000 tons for galvanized and pickled lines, and 10,000 tons for tinplate production.
