Italy initiatives address gender-based violence and perpetrator intervention

Efforts to combat gender-based violence in Italy are focusing on both linguistic responsibility and direct intervention with perpetrators. At the Chamber of Deputies, Martina Semenzato, President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Femicide, hosted a literary review titled “New Languages Against Gender Violence.” The event highlighted how language shapes reality and emphasized the importance of avoiding stereotypes and apologetic phrasing in news reporting to respect the dignity of victims.

In Imperia, the CUAV Ponente center, managed by the White Dove association, is marking two years of activity. A conference titled “Alone We Do Not Change” will bring together social services, judicial authorities, and law enforcement to discuss the necessity of working with men who commit acts of violence. The discussions will cover various facets of the issue, including digital violence, new legal protections for women, and the role of social services in prevention and intervention.
