Paolo Abate found dead after disappearance in Agropoli, Italy

Paolo Abate, a 50‑year‑old resident of the Moio Alto district of Agropoli (Salerno province), was reported missing on the afternoon of 1 August 2026. His family alerted authorities after he failed to return home. A coordinated search involving the Carabinieri, local fire brigade, municipal police, volunteers from the Protezione Civile and the Red Cross was launched throughout the night.

In the early hours of 2 August, a family member discovered Abate’s body near the Vallone San Pietro area, close to the cottage where he lived. Medical examiners confirmed his death on site; the cause remains under investigation, with an autopsy pending. The mayor of Agropoli, Roberto Antonio Mutalipassi, expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the family, and the community responded with numerous messages of condolence.

The incident has prompted a formal inquiry by the local magistrate to determine the circumstances of the death.
