Italy introduces new welfare and entrepreneurship support measures

Regional and provincial initiatives in Italy are introducing new financial support measures to assist families and female entrepreneurs with caregiving responsibilities.

The Varese Chamber of Commerce has launched a 45,000 euro fund to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Varese province. The program provides non-repayable grants of up to 5,000 euros to help women entrepreneurs manage professional and family duties. Eligibility is extended to female business owners who are responsible for children up to 14 years old or who care for family members with recognized disabilities.

In Liguria, the regional government has allocated 7 million euros for family welfare bonuses for 2026. The funding, supported by the PR FSE+ 2021-2027, includes monthly payments for babysitters (350 euros) and family assistants (600 euros, or 250 euros for those already receiving disability funds). Additionally, contributions of up to 1,200 euros per month are available for integrated services for severe disabilities. Applications open on September 1, 2026, and can cover expenses incurred since January 1, 2026.
