Italy introduces online PagoPA payment for passports

The Italian State Police has launched a new online procedure allowing citizens to generate PagoPA payment notices directly through the ‘Agenda Passaporto Online’ portal. This feature enables users to obtain the standard payment notice for the €42.70 ordinary passport fee during the appointment booking process.

Payments can be made via digital or physical channels of service providers participating in the PagoPA platform, including Poste Italiane. While the online notice is a new convenience, it is not mandatory; payments can still be made using the name and tax code of the applicant, including minors.

The State Police also noted that traditional postal bulletins will no longer be accepted for new payments starting December 1, 2025. Payments made before this date that have not yet been used will remain valid.
