Italy investigates two separate cases of suspected gender-based violence

Italy is facing ongoing scrutiny regarding gender-based violence following two distinct criminal cases. In Sardinia, nearly one year has passed since the murder of 33-year-old Cinzia Pinna. The suspect, prominent entrepreneur Emanuele Ragnedda, confessed to the killing but claimed self-defense. However, investigators have registered him as a suspect for voluntary homicide with the aggravating factor of cruelty, suggesting an intent to annihilate the victim.

In Sicily, authorities are investigating the death of Noemi Impellizzeri, who was found hanging in her home in Riposto after a fire broke out. While initially appearing to be a suicide, investigators suspect a staged crime scene because the victim's feet were touching the floor. Tony Proietto is currently under investigation for voluntary homicide. Investigators also found traces of solvent in the room, suggesting the fire may have been intentionally set to cover the crime.
