Piedmont Region investigates alleged racism against teenager in Fossano

The Piedmont Region has requested clarifications following an incident in Fossano where a 14-year-old girl of Moroccan origin reported being denied access to a replacement bus service heading to Cuneo.

The teenager and her family allege that the bus driver refused her entry, reportedly stating that he would ‘only let Italians board.’ The family has filed a formal complaint with the Carabinieri. The driver has denied the accusation, claiming the girl misinterpreted his words.

Regional Transport Councilor Marco Gabusi described the alleged incident as ‘grave and unacceptable’ if confirmed, emphasizing that public transport must be accessible to everyone without discrimination based on origin or nationality. The Piedmont Mobility Agency is currently investigating the matter to reconstruct the events.
