Italy: Investigations continue into Trigno bridge collapse and fatal San Salvo crash

Technical experts are conducting investigations into two separate but related tragic incidents in the San Salvo and Montenero di Bisaccia areas.

Regarding the collapse of the bridge over the Trigno River on the SS16, expert Stefano Moretti stated that further verification is required. He noted that the search for missing person Domenico “Mino” Racanati continues, with technical hypotheses suggesting that investigations must extend beneath the collapsed structure and the large amount of debris and ferrous material present. Moretti estimated that removing the wreckage and steel beams could cost between 6 and 8 million euros due to logistical and economic complexities.

In a separate investigation concerning a fatal road collision in via Grasceta, San Salvo, forensic activities were carried out on two seized vehicles, a Fiat Grande Punto and a Fiat Bravo. Experts Marco Colagrossi and Stefano Moretti examined the vehicles and the crash site to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident. These findings aim to clarify the sequence of events and identify the causes of the collision.
