Italy invests in Mozambique climate resilience and vocational training

Italy is investing €2 million into the Câmbio project to bolster climate resilience in Mozambique. The initiative, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), targets the cities of Pemba and Beira, as well as Ibo Island, to improve the ability of local populations and institutions to adapt to climate change and natural disasters.

In addition to climate adaptation, Italy is deepening its commitment to workforce development in the Cabo Delgado province. During a visit to the Ifpelac vocational training center in Pemba, Italian Ambassador Gabriele Annis emphasized the importance of training a skilled local workforce to support Italian companies operating in the region. This effort aims to reduce reliance on external labor and foster local employment.

These actions are part of a broader bilateral cooperation between Italy and Mozambique focusing on environment, urban development, and vocational training. This follows a previous announcement by Ambassador Annis regarding plans for a €100 million investment in the development of green cities within Mozambique.
