Italy issues new guidelines for school strategic documents

The Italian Ministry of Education and Merit has released new ministerial guidelines to regulate the updating of strategic documents for the 2026/2027 school year. According to ministerial note prot. n. 188974, issued on October 22, 2026, educational institutions must revise their Self-Assessment Report (RAV), Improvement Plan (PdM), and Three-Year Plan of the Educational Offer (PTOF).

As the current cycle is in its second year of the 2025-2028 national evaluation system, the process focuses on verifying and potentially revising previously adopted institutional choices rather than starting a new planning cycle. To assist schools, the Ministry has provided an operational manual containing 32 downloadable templates organized into seven sections to guide institutional design and documentation.

Platforms for updating and publishing these strategic documents opened on October 22, 2026, and will remain available until the start of the enrollment phase for the 2027/2028 school year.
