Italy issues summer health advice on alcohol consumption and matcha‑pistachio beauty trends
Health officials warn that drinking cold beer during extreme heat can increase dehydration, diuresis and impair the body's ability to regulate temperature. The Istituto Superiore di Sanità explains that alcohol acts as a diuretic, reduces antidiuretic hormone activity and can lead to excess fluid loss, advising people to prioritize water, light foods and avoid alcoholic beverages in heat waves.
At the same time, a summer beauty trend promotes the use of matcha and pistachio‑colored makeup, highlighting the antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory properties of these ingredients. Matcha, a Japanese super‑food, is praised for its high levels of antioxidants and its ability to protect skin from free radicals, while pistachio is noted for vitamin E content. The trend is presented as a healthier alternative that also offers a pastel green aesthetic for cosmetics.
Both pieces of advice emphasize hydration, electrolyte balance, and using natural ingredients to support skin health during the hot season.
