Italy-Japan Forum highlights SMEs and craftsmanship
The XIII Italy-Japan Forum, organized by JIEF, highlighted the vital role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and craftsmanship in strengthening bilateral economic ties. During the event in Rome, Japanese Ambassador Hikariko Ono emphasized that cooperation between private companies serves as a true symbol of the bond between the two nations.
Cinzia Fabris, national vice president of the National Confederation of Craftsmanship and Small and Medium Enterprises (CNA), noted that the high quality and customization of ‘Made in Italy’ products align well with the demands of Japanese consumers. The CNA is promoting an internationalization strategy focused on institutional collaboration, the valorization of territorial skills, and direct business-to-business networking.
The forum also addressed shared challenges in rural and technological sectors, with discussions extending to agricultural innovation and scientific research. Recent efforts include the participation of Italian textile, clothing, and leather goods companies in major trade fairs in Tokyo and at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
