Italy landslides and evacuations following heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall across Italy has triggered several landslides and structural failures, leading to multiple evacuations.

In Genoa, intense precipitation caused a wall to collapse in the Borgoratti district on via Posalunga, forcing the evacuation of four families. Additional landslides occurred in Loria and Valpolcevera, where debris blocked roads and a landslide isolated three homes. Emergency responders, including the fire brigade, local police, and Civil Protection, are assessing the stability of the affected slopes.

In the province of Brescia, specifically in the municipality of Anfo, the collapse of a large containment wall in the Sant’Antonio area has forced the evacuation of approximately 40 people from six homes. The landslide, caused by heavy rains, has created a risk of further ground movement. Local authorities and technical experts are monitoring the site to determine when it will be safe for residents to return.
