Italy launches 10 million euro liquidity fund for fishing sector

Italy has launched the ‘Cambiale Azzurra’ initiative, a 10 million euro fund designed to provide liquidity to the fishing and aquaculture sectors. Announced by Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, the program offers zero-interest loans. Individual businesses can access up to 20,000 euros, while fishing cooperatives with multiple vessels can receive up to 60,000 euros. The loans feature a five-year duration with a two-year grace period before capital repayment begins. Applications can be submitted online via the ISMEA portal from October 13 to October 30.

Federpesca has welcomed the measure, noting it addresses urgent liquidity needs for operators facing high management costs. Separately, the Lazio region has announced a 4 million euro fund for the ‘Blue Economy.’ This regional initiative targets 22 coastal municipalities and islands, including Ponza and Ventotene, to support marine ecosystem protection, plastic removal, and sustainable economic growth.
