Italy launches 2026‑2027 school substitute teacher application window

From Thursday 16 July 2026, Italy opened the online portal for the 2026‑2027 school substitute‑teacher (supplenze) applications. Candidates can submit their request via the Polis Istanze Online platform, authenticating with SPID or CIE, and must do so by 14:00 on 29 July 2026.

Applicants – teachers listed in the Graduatorie a Esaurimento (GAE) and provincial substitute‑teacher lists (GPS) – may indicate up to 150 preferences, selecting schools, municipalities, districts or whole provinces, and choosing the type of contract. The Ministry will allocate positions using an algorithm that respects the order of the rankings and the expressed preferences. New features include the “posto orario” option, allowing hourly contracts of up to 25 hours for early childhood, 22 hours for primary and 18 hours for secondary education, and a “mini call veloce” for unfilled support‑teacher slots running from 14 July to 12 August 2026. More severe sanctions apply for candidates who renounce assigned posts.
