Italy launches constitutional education initiatives for students

The Italian Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, and the Ministry of Education and Merit have announced a series of initiatives and competitions designed to promote the values and contents of the Italian Constitution among students. These programs aim to support civic education across various school levels.

For secondary schools, initiatives include the “From parliamentary halls to school classrooms. Constitution Lessons” competition, where students create digital works on constitutional history. Another program, “Inside the Senate. Know, discuss, deliberate,” allows third and fourth-year students to simulate legislative processes by drafting a bill on a topic of general interest. Additionally, the “Training Day at Montecitorio” offers senior students the opportunity to experience parliamentary life through committee simulations and debates with deputies.

Middle school students can participate in “Witnesses of Rights,” focusing on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and “Parlawiki,” which uses multimedia to explore democratic vocabulary. Primary school students are also included in certain democratic vocabulary activities.
