Italy launches hiring drive for 340 emergency medical responders

The regional emergency service SEUS 118 in Sicily announced a recruitment plan to add 340 ambulance drivers. The first 103 positions will be filled between September and October, with the remaining 237 to be assigned later after approval from the regional economy department. The hiring process will be managed by a specialized public‑competition firm and requires candidates to hold dual qualifications.

In Lazio, the ASL Roma 6 health authority is also expanding its emergency‑medicine staff. It opened a permanent public competition for 40 medical director posts in emergency and surgery, and a separate temporary call for 23 emergency‑medicine doctors. Applications have been received, with the permanent selection expected to conclude by October and the temporary one by September. Both initiatives aim to address chronic shortages of qualified emergency‑care personnel across Italy’s health system.
