Italy launches immersive theatre and opera festivals in July

The Festival Approdo in Giulianova runs from 24 to 26 July, featuring the internationally known Teatro Potlach. The company presents “Città Invisibili”, a sensory‑rich performance inspired by Italo Calvino that transforms city squares, courtyards and facades into interactive stages, while local associations and musicians such as the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Planet Funk and guitarist Paolo Angeli add to the program.

Meanwhile a new opera event opens on Lake Orta, with a travelling production of La Traviata that invites audiences to become “spect‑actors” beside Violetta, culminating in a night performance on San Giulio Island. Additional cultural programmes include the Virtuoso&Belcanto Festival in Tuscany and the announcement of the 2026/27 season of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, which will feature eleven operas, six ballets and numerous concerts.

Both festivals emphasize multidisciplinary collaboration, blending theatre, music, dance and visual arts to engage local communities and tourists.
