Italy launches initiatives to improve fibromyalgia awareness and treatment

Various Italian initiatives are focusing on increasing awareness and exploring non-pharmacological treatments for fibromyalgia.

In Castelfranco Di Sotto, the municipality is organizing two information sessions to help citizens understand the symptoms, diagnostic processes, and daily management of the condition. Led by rheumatology specialist Dr. Michele Moretti, these meetings aim to foster community awareness of this often underestimated pathology.

In Foggia, the University Rheumatology Complex of the Policlinico Foggia is concluding an innovative project titled ‘Fibromyalgia, when pain is charged with emotions’. Funded by the ministry via the Puglia Region, the project integrates medicine, art, and psychotherapy. The initiative explores multidisciplinary non-pharmacological therapies, including music therapy, to support patients through a combination of medical, musical, and psychological approaches.
