Italy launches local language preservation courses in Asiago and Ruvo di Puglia
Various cultural initiatives in Italy are launching to preserve local linguistic heritage. In Asiago, the Istituto di Cultura Cimbra and the City of Asiago are organizing an introductory course titled ‘Zimbrish?’ to teach the Cimbrian language. Running from October 1 to November 12, 2026, the seven Thursday evening sessions aim to make the language, culture, and traditions of the Sette Comuni plateau more accessible to residents and visitors alike.
In Ruvo di Puglia, the association ‘U’ Aggigghje de le Revetole’ is hosting a laboratory to rediscover the Rubastino dialect. Led by Dr. Angelo Tedone, the 10-week course begins on October 14, 2026. The program focuses on the rules of writing and reading the vernacular, exploring ancient lexicon, proverbs, and local literature to preserve the community's historical memory.
