Italy launches national reading initiatives for November 2026

Italy is hosting several large-scale reading promotion initiatives throughout November 2026. The national project #ioleggoperché, organized by the Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE), will run from November 7 to 15 under the theme ‘A community that grows’. This eleventh edition involves over 30,000 schools, 4,000 nurseries, and 4,135 bookstores, aiming to engage more than 4.4 million students. A key development this year is the expansion to all nurseries across Italy. Additionally, publishers will provide 100,000 books to schools in Calabria, Sardinia, and Molise to address regional gaps in participation.

In Trieste, the Nati per Leggere group is organizing various events for families with children aged 0 to 6. These activities are part of the regional LeggiAMO 0-18 project and the Festival Diritti e Storti. Scheduled events include monthly meetings at the Mattioni Municipal Library and sessions at the Mini Mu nursery in San Giovanni Park, focusing on the benefits of early childhood reading and the use of public libraries.
