Italy launches PNRR-funded housing for elderly and disabled

New social housing projects funded by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) have been launched to support vulnerable populations in the Emilia-Romagna region.

In Parma, the Gulli Romanini complex has opened new housing for the elderly. The project features 14 two-room apartments with a maximum capacity of 24 residents. Designed to promote autonomy through technology and proximity-based welfare, the facility aims to allow seniors to maintain social connections and independence while avoiding traditional residential care.

In Sassuolo, a new group apartment has been established to support individuals with disabilities. The project, managed by the Union of Municipalities of the Ceramic District, transformed public residential units into a single home for up to six people. The initiative focuses on helping residents acquire daily life management skills and personal growth through the support of qualified educators.
