Italy launches regional breast cancer prevention initiatives
Various regional initiatives in Italy are focusing on oncological prevention and breast cancer awareness. In Parma, Komen Italia will host the second Pink Tie Ball charity gala on October 7 at the Pilotta complex. Supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Parma, the event aims to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer, a disease that affects over 56,000 women annually in Italy. The gala features sponsorship from Barilla and aims to highlight the importance of early diagnosis, which can lead to cure rates exceeding 90%.
In Carmagnola, the Andos association is expanding its community outreach through several autumn programs. These include the inauguration of a 'pink bench' at the Riva Fair in Chieri to promote free screenings and healthy lifestyles, as well as the launch of 'CamminAndos' walking groups starting October 1. The association is also collaborating with local health services (Asl TO5) to support cancer prevention and patient care.
